Lab
Report:
Start up Xterm and login. (Lab instruction emphasized to use Xterm instead of remote desktop)
First parts
of Tutorial
1 is redundant from in-class Lecture
1 with an exception of replacing the design rule files highlighted below.
Delete the
existing 3 files named (divaEXT.rul, divaDRC.rul, and divaLVS.rul) and
upload the new files.
3 design rule files named (divaEXT.rul, divaDRC.rul, and divaLVS.rul) have
been updated.
Start Cadence and create a new
Library called "Tutorial_1" and attach the AMI 0.60u C5N process.
Create a new file called "R_div" and select the type as "schematic".
Using
bindkeys ('i' - create
instances, 'q' - object properties, 'w' - draw wire), add all component and
wire up the circuit as follow.
Using bindkeys ('l' - naming wires) to label
'in' and 'out' and always "check and save" before simulation,
simulating without "check and save" will result failure in
simulation.
Launch ADE L, Choose transient analysis and select 'in' and 'out' wires
to be plotted.
In order to avoid extra steps when editing files and doing multiple
simulations, save simulation state.
Finally, hit the simulate button, and simulation results shown in the following.
For most of the time, I'm going to work on my desktop.
I'll
create a folder for a specific lab and save my screenshots directly to that
folder.
For editing lab report, I'm going to use both Word (for easy editing, formatting and spell checks) and compozer (for final appearance and adding links).
For backups, I'll be zipping up the
folder and emailing it to myself occasionally,
and
also save a copy to a USB drive just in case of editing report using a laptop or using a desktop on-campus.
