This is an introductory laboratory report to get students accustomed to the class and get things started,
Before the start of the classes, be sure to check your student email for any updates and things to do for the class.

It is highly advisable that the student get their book and cmos account ready before  the semester officially starts to avoid any issues off the bat.

The tutorials posted in the course webpage and several, if not all of its contents will be essential for the next months of this semester, becoming familiar with your resources will be a positive return on your time spent.

The first part of this lab starts with Tutorial 1. If you follow the instructions/guide properly, you would end up with a working environment that looks like the image below:

file:///C:/Users/danra/Desktop/ee421_lab1-20210901T175137Z-001/ee421_lab1/im%200%20_moba%20Xterm%20welcome%20page.PNG

Although rare, there might be instances when an installation might fail. This first lab also serves to resolve the issues that might arise at the time of installation (before or during the laboratory).

Once you have the environment installed and your account access confirmed, next, we need to set up the files and libraries that we will be using for this course.Again, we are still at the Tutorial 1, so following the steps

will give us the extracted book examples and the libraries in the right locations. It will look like so:

im%201%20_%20cadence%20home%20LS.PNG  im%202_%20making%20sure%20you%20have%20the%20book%20examples.PNG

Downloading and extracting the files and libraries are not enough for Cadence to function. We will have to add some notes to the initialization file and library file. This can be done by adding some lines in the specific text files using the default text editor in MobaXterm.

im%203%20_%20cdsinit%20_%20making%20sure%20you%20are%20using%20spectre.PNG  im%204%20_%20cdslib%20_%20define%20your%20folders%20_%20book%20examples%20and%20components.PNG  im%205%20_%20define%20your%20tutorial%20folder.PNG

Additionally, there are more information about lines that can be added to the above text files, lines that can

make your life easier and convenient. Be sure to check them out too in this Helpful Hints for Modifying cdsinit link.
