 Lab 1 Report:

1) DESCRIPTION OF LAB

Having set up Cadence for the lecture class, I start the lab by logging into Cadence and to create a new library called "Tutorial_1" with the Library Manager tool.

Upon checking the cds.lib file in our CMOSedu directory as instructed, there is a new line of code added to the file, which has been circled in blue on the image.

This indicates the creation and location of the new "Tutorial_1" library in Cadence.

After creating the tutorial library, we can see it show up in the directory in Cadence. The library is now ready for access and we can create the schematic and simulations we need in it.

This is the voltage divider schematic and the simulated waveforms for Lab 1 drawn in Cadence.

A 1-volt DC source feeds two 10k resistors to create an output voltage at 0.5 V, half of the input.

2) BACKING UP MY DATA

Backing up my data is extremely important when working with large, complex software such as Cadence.

In case the program should crash (which has happened already), keeping data on backup is a good failsafe to ensure minimal losses.

The images above indicate a zipped up folder containing all the data created for Lab 1.

I email the zipped up file to myself to ensure that I have easy access to the data in the event of another crash.

Recovery is made much easier.
